As a Higher Education professional for nearly 25 years, Dr. Janica (Jan) Austad has held management (both in academic and academic support services), teaching and researchship positions in two year and four year educational institutions in the United States and in Canada. In her 15 years in academic leadership, Janica has functioned as Vice Chair for a Board of Directors, Associate Dean for Career Programs, Associate Dean for Liberal Arts and STEM Program Chair for Undergraduate Psychology and Criminal Justice programs (including Licensure for Alcohol and Drug Counseling) and Master of Science in Human Services and Academic Director for General Education, Academic Advising and Academic Achievement Services. Throughout her career, Janica’s focus has been on enhancing the student experience; developing academic and academic support programs and services to guide students to reach their academic goals. In addition, she has developed college-wide platforms to enrich the teaching and learning environment from onboarding effective student-centric practices to introducing faculty mentoring and orientation programs to assist new faculty to acclimate to a college’s culture. Janica has most recently taught courses in Undergraduate Psychology and Graduate courses in Clinical Mental Health and Public Administration. Janica holds a B.A. in Psychology and a Certificate in Community Service (Family Life Education) from Concordia University (Montreal, Quebec), a M.Ed. in Family Life Education and Counseling from McGill University (Montreal, Quebec), and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Argosy University- Twin Cities.
